The Café & Shop
Our café
Our café was fully refurbished in early 2020, and now combines the charm of its early 20th century heritage, with the modern amenities found in many of today’s famous dining establishments. Original seating booths have been returned to the customer, and the flexible space allows small and large parties to dine in comfort, surrounded by the paintings of local artist Michael Groves.

Menu
The menu at The Bakewell Tart Shop and Coffee House has been specially curated to showcase the best in local produce alongside the English classics we have all come to expect. Our pies are all made locally and are the best in the region, if we do say so ourselves. Our breakfasts are outstanding according to our regular customers. And then there are the desserts…. let’s just say that they alone are reason enough to call in. Our chefs takes pride in every dish that leaves the kitchen, our baristas delight in producing some of the best coffee to be found in Derbyshire, and our bakers ensure that the century old recipe for our Tarts and Puddings is religiously adhered to with every single one produced.

We have a very beautifully renovated café that blends the charm and history of the building with the modern facilities needed to provide a great environment. The walls are decorated with the paintings of renowned local artist Michael Groves, and we offer traditional table settings, or cosy booths. As a result, we can comfortably cater for parties large and small.
Our shop
We have a fantastic array of takeaway products available in our shop too. In addition to the wide-ranging assortment of Bakewell Tarts and Bakewell Puddings, the Bakewell Tart Shop offers a mouth-wateringly delicious choice of pies, cakes and freshly baked bread. We stock a selection of local savoury favourites including the Homity Pie, the Huntsman Pie and the Peak Pasty. Follow this up with a slice of our Iced Bakewell Tart, some Millionaire’s Shortbread or an Eccles cake, or even some of our homemade scones, baked on the premises each morning.

You may also be tempted to take home some of our enticing collection of local delicacies including jams, biscuits, confectionery and other food gifts to help you remember your visit to us.
